About our Furniture
Our Oak dining and occasional furniture is manufactured from solid european oak, with specially engineered panels included in some of our prices to gain additional stability.
Wood Characteristics for Your Furniture
As with any real wood furniture the material itself is fashioned by nature with colours and grain variation, sapwood in oak (light streaks) are also completely natural and is not considered to be defect. With the natural character of oak, no two pieces will ever be identical and may vary from those displayed on our website, in many ways this makes each item even more special as it will be unique.
The oak is kiln dried to ensure it suits typical modern centrally heated homes. However, like the furniture itself, each home is unique and therefore as the furniture settles, natural movement of the oak must be expected as it adapts to the conditions of your home.
Wood changes shape due to variations in humidity and temperature, therefore care should be taken to avoid extreme heat conditions, moisture and light as this can cause the wood to swell or shrink or start to show small signs of cracking, strong light can effect the colour in some cases.
